Orlando, Florida · Engineer, technologist, photographer

Hi, I'm Ismael.

I'm a biomedical engineer who found his way into enterprise tech. I work where technology meets the people who need it to work: I go deep on the problem, translate between technical and business teams, and find the simplest answer that holds up.

About me

I grew up in Saltillo, Mexico, in a family of photographers and entrepreneurs. My grandfather and my dad both worked behind the camera, and a lot of how I see the world comes from them. I studied Biomedical Engineering at Universidad de Monterrey, then started my career in medical technology: first managing equipment for a hospital, then in medical devices, close enough to the operating room to see how the technology really gets used.

In 2017 I moved to the United States, a move I had planned step by step for years. After a few more years in medical devices I moved into software, and spent about five years at ThoughtSpot, growing from SDR to Enterprise Account Executive for the Southeast US and Latin America. Along the way I earned ThoughtSpot's Professional, Cloud Architect, and Administrator certifications and made President's Club. Today I'm at Unframe, an AI agents company, leaning into the product side of AI.

The thread through all of it is depth. When a customer situation gets tangled, I'm often the one who steps back, asks what the customer actually needs, and gets product, engineering, and the buyer around a simple answer. I pick up the language of a new field quickly, in English or Spanish, and I tend to think a few moves ahead.

How I work

  1. Lots of ideas, one clear answer

I connect ideas across fields quickly, then narrow them down to the one that actually solves the problem.

  2. A few moves ahead

I map out scenarios before I commit, which helps on complex deals, roadmaps, and big decisions.

  3. The specialist people call

I do my best work going deep, knowing the details, and being the person people bring the hard questions to.

  4. A bridge between worlds

Technical and business. Engineering and sales. English and Spanish. I'm comfortable translating in both directions.

What I'm exploring next

I'm moving closer to the product: work where I can go deep on technical problems, build things, and help people get real value from AI. I'm still shaping exactly what that looks like, and I'm enjoying the exploration. If you're working on something in that space, I'd love to compare notes.

Off the clock

Off the clock, I'm usually behind a camera, either my Nikon Z7 II or a DJI drone, or tinkering with my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer. Before engineering I spent two years in music school playing the cello, and I'll never say no to a good escape room. Home is Orlando with my husband and our two American Hairless Terriers, Dante and B-Mo.
